What to expect

Inland Anatolia and the Taurus Mountains are a paradise for outdoors lovers. This full day tour includes a self-drive 4x4 safari, a walk through the Canyon of the Eagles, plus visits to ‘Green Cappadocia' and ancient Selge.

First up, you'll journey to Beskonak to learn how to drive your own air-conditioned off-roader. After a quick test run, you'll buckle up ready to bump down tracks and trails into the depths of the Canyon of the Eagles. Soak up the sights of nature on a walk in this idyllic spot before driving along the border of the Koprulu National Park, stopping at lookout points along the way.

After a hearty lunch, you'll explore the ruins of ancient Selge and its amphitheatre, enjoy a visit to nearby vegetation-clad rock formations – known by locals as ‘Green Cappadocia' – and stop off at the ancient Oluk Bridge. In summer, there's a short rafting trip down the River Euromedon, too.

What to remember

Bring sunblock and a hat, and a spare T-shirt for rafting
Drivers must present a valid driving licence – which they must have held for 5 years
4x4 not suitable for expectant mothers, children aged under 7 or guests aged over 65
River rafting is only during the summer months
There may be an initial, unaccompanied pick-up from your hotel to a meeting point from which the tour proper departs
