What to expect

Malta's sister island is just a short boat trip away. You'll set off by ferry and explore Gozo's natural beauty spots with this full day excursion. Visit Dwejra Bay and historic sites such as the Citadel and Ggantija Temples.

Arriving at Gozo in just 25 minutes, we'll disembark and head straight for the Ggantija Temples – a UNESCO World Heritage Site older than the pyramids of Egypt. You'll then visit the Citadel of Victoria, where 360° panoramic views show off the island's landscape. Next up is lunch.

In the afternoon, we'll visit the fjord-like bay of Xlendi as well as Dwejra Bay to see Fungus Rock and the nearby Inland Sea. You can't fail to be impressed by the island's lush countryside, its serene atmosphere and how different it is from the larger island of Malta.

    Great guide leading the tour as always. As an introductions to Gozo it was great. There is so much to see in the Maltese islands and a tour like this is a good way to get a feeling of what you may want to look at in more detail another time.

    The trip was too rushed. The guide walked quickly and didn't wait for everyone to get off the coach before walking. Getting on and off the ferry was difficult and we couldn't see Nika once we left the ferry. So many people, we couldn't hear the guides instructions, I didn't feel the guide was really looking out for the wellbeing of her group. To improve, I would cut the time at each destination by 5 minutes so the guide has time to ensure all of her party are with her.

    Trip started off with a lot of hanging around but once on Gozo it improved, the guide was ok, we experienced better on other tours and they can make or break a tour. Food was appalling and TUI need to do something about it, I would avoid the food if you can, generally ok the trip to Mdina was far superior

    The experience would be better if the guests were provided with ear pieces to enable us to hear the guide more easily when walking rather than having to stand close to others. Time to access to the Citadel church would have been a bonus. It all felt a little bit rushed

Dette UNESCO-verdensarvsstedet er over 5000 år gammelt og gir et innblikk i hvordan Maltas første innbyggere levde på øya. Deretter går turen til en av Maltas mest berømte naturattraksjoner – den blå grotten Wied Iz-Zurrieq. Det er en 50 meter dyp naturlig grotte med en enorm bue som strekker seg ut mot havet. Grottene har fått navnet sitt fra lyset som reflekteres fra vannet og skaper en blendende blå farge. Det er mulig å ta en valgfri båttur inn i grotten.Deretter setter vi kursen mot Marsaxlokk – et av de mest pittoreske stedene i landet. I denne sjarmerende fiskerlandsbyen er det et stort marked nede ved vannkanten – sørg for å sjekke ut de fargerikt malte "luzzu"-båtene som flyter i havnen. I tillegg til nyfanget fisk finner du også lokalt dyrket frukt og grønnsaker, maltesiske viner, kjøttpålegg, oster og lærvarer. Nyt tid på egen hånd her og gjør det du har lyst til.

Øyene Gozo og Malta er bare skilt av en smal kanal, men forskjellene er iøynefallende. Gozo er en grønnere øy, tynnere befolket og har en mer avslappet atmosfære. Du kan føle den rolige atmosfæren når du besøker Victoria Citadel, Ggantija Temple og Dwejra Bay. Yohanna, en av de dyktige lokalguidene våre, sier: "Mosaikkene i Ta'Pinu er et nytt tilskudd fra 2017. De består av 20 rosenkransmysterier montert på fire sirkulære vegger i det som tidligere var en stygg parkeringsplass." Etter en kort tur med ferge til øya, drar vi først til Qala Point for å nyte utsiken over den maltesiske øygruppen. Deretter går turen videre til en av UNESCOs verdensarvsteder: Ggantija-tempelet som er eldre enn pyramidene i Egypt. Det historiske temaet fortsetter Citadel of Victoria, øyas hovedstad. Yohanna sier: "Victoria ble opprinnelig kalt Rabat, men for å feire dronning Victorias diamantjubileum i 1887 ble navnet endret. Du vil se mye britisk innflytelse her, på grunn av de 164 årene under britisk styre."Neste stopp er et besøk til noen saltpanner for å se hvordan salt høstes på øya.
