Your journey begins with an independent train ride from Shin Osaka Station to Kanazawa Station. The first destination together with your guide will be the charming village of Shirakawago, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This village is renowned for its traditional gassho-zukuri houses, featuring steep thatched roofs designed to withstand heavy snowfall, reminiscent of praying hands. You'll have time to savour lunch at your leisure and meander through the tranquil streets. You can admire the historic architecture, local artisan workshops, and experience an atmosphere that feels suspended in time.
Continue to Kenrokuen, hailed as one of Japan’s most exquisite gardens. It's a true haven where artistry and nature intertwine. The garden's ponds mirror the surrounding trees and flowers, while bridges, stone lanterns, and meticulously crafted pathways foster an ambiance of tranquillity and harmony. Regardless of the season, Kenrokuen offers a serene experience.
Depending on the day, the itinerary includes a visit to either the historic district of Nishi Chaya or Nagamachi. Both areas exhibit Kanazawa’s cultural heritage. Nishi Chaya, with its traditional teahouses, transports you back to the Edo period. Nagamachi, once a samurai district, enchants with its cobblestone streets and residences that maintain the elegance of bygone eras.
