Why you’ll love this…
  • Explore the Medieval hilltop town of Motovun
  • Discover Hum, the smallest town in the world
  • Taste premium, artisan Istrian brandies and local delicacies
  • Delve into Hum's history at the local museum
What to expect

Like something out of a fairytale, Motovun is the sort of town you dream of eloping to. Alleys of stone houses laden with art galleries and cafés are packed either side of robust Venetian walls – you'll love it. And while it's the undoubted star of this half-day tour, you'll also discover the world's smallest town - Hum.

Your first stop of the morning is hilltop Motovun – a medieval monument in itself with and stop-and-stare views over the vineyards sprawling out below. Walk around the old town, soaking up an atmosphere that's both bohemian and old-world at the same time.

Next, you'll continue towards our next stop, Hum, officially the smallest town in the world. Here, you'll delve into the town's history at the Museum of Hum Aura, housed within a historic building that served as a granary and town hall for centuries. Your trip culminates with a tasting experience at a local distillery. Sample premium brandies, homemade jams, and other regional delicacies crafted from wild herbs and fruits gathered on the slopes of Mount Učka, offering a true taste of Istria.

Tin, the guide, was outstanding. His local knowledge and passion to share was apparent and attention to details was excellent. This was a fantastic trip showing traditional and historical culture and architecture which was brought to life by the friendly and respectful guide. Thank you for a wonderful trip.

The guide was very informative and the trip in my was was just the right length of time for a Sunday morning trip. The group was the right size, and everyone was able to listen to the guide and enjoy the experience.

A good trip. Boban was a good guide, Motovun was beautiful and the trip to the distillery very enjoyable, with an abundance of free samples. My only reservation is that when we booked the (a week beforehand), it included truffle tasting at a farm, which had apparently been cancelled due to Sunday opening laws. We only found out by reading other reviews and subsequently speaking to our rep. Strangely, although it didn't happen, Boban still mention the truffle tasting in his introductory speech.

Fantastic guide. A rather long day depending where your hotel is. Also on Sundays local shops might be closed as they can only open 16 Sundays a year, so watch out for that. Excellent views for most of the trip.
