Boasting the only surviving fortified medieval town on the Catalan coast, it was once the holiday destination for Hollywood stars such as Kirk Douglas, Elizabeth Taylor, and Rock Hudson. The ports of departure in the Mareseme are Calella, Pineda de Mar, Santa Susanna and Malgrat de Mar.
