Hike through the magnificent Alsophila Canyon, followed by a boat trip for a unique perspective of the majestic Leshan Giant Buddha and a chance to sample authentic Leshan cuisine.
Your private English-speaking guide will pick you up at your hotel for a relaxing hike through Alsophila Canyon. This approximately three-mile route winds through the valley, where gurgling streams and thousands of ancient Alsophila tree ferns (also known as Alsophila spinulosa) grow. These "living fossils" create an atmosphere imbued with wild beauty and mystery. The gentle trails are a perfect way to awaken your senses.
After the hike, you'll return to Leshan City. Your guide will take you to a local favourite restaurant to savour authentic Leshan cuisine. You'll have the opportunity to try. If time permits, your guide will also take you to a nearby ancient street for a taste of Leshan's signature snacks, such as tofu pudding or ice jelly.
After lunch, you'll board a boat to enjoy panoramic views of the Leshan Giant Buddha, the world's tallest stone Maitreya Buddha. Without the long, steep climb, you'll experience the magnificent scale of the "mountain is Buddha, Buddha is mountain" phenomenon. The boat trip also offers the opportunity to admire the remains of the Buddha's intricate ancient drainage system, as well as the stunning scenery of the confluence of three rivers.
