Want to head off the beaten track and uncover what Menorca's rural life is like? This full-day guided tour, which is exclusive to TUI, shines a light on the customs, culture and cuisine of the island. Carlos, one of our expert local guides, says “this tour is perfect for anyone who wants to add an extra splash of tradition to their island escape. You'll see some amazing places, learn a lot and get to try some authentically made food. What's not to love?”
To start, your guide and transport will pick you up at your hotel, before heading to the first stop on the tour, El Toro. At 358 metres tall, it's the highest peak in Menorca, meaning the views of the island's coastal towns and countryside are pretty incredible from up here. When you're done snapping pictures, you'll head to Fornells, a town on the north coast. When you arrive, your guide will show off the sights during a stroll around the centre. This place was used as a landing site when British soldiers came to occupy Menorca back in 1798. You'll hear all about this history while you wander around the town's waterfront – pro tip, this place is the perfect backdrop for your next profile picture.
Next up, you'll head to Binissues, an old-worldy country house that's preserved as a museum for Menorcan culture. This place has its own farm and vineyard, too. It's here that you'll see firsthand how local artisans make cheese the traditional way. And, best of all, you'll get to sample some, along with a few different sweet and savoury pastries.
