What to expect
Learn more about Catalan culture with a visit to the mountain of Montserrat. Visit the museum and marvel at its cultural heritage. Although most of it was lost in the Napoleonic War, this has not been an impediment to grow a remarkable collection of art.
If you opt to visit the museum, you will learn all about Mesopotamia, Cyprus, Egypt, and Palestine's archeological finds. You can also admire old paintings from the 13th to 18th centuries by artists such as Morales, El Greco, Berruguete, Caravaggio, and many more. Fall in love with the architecture of the Basilica which combines Gothic and Renaissance styles, visit its atrium and its sacristy as well as an interesting permanent exhibition on the image of the Virgin which shows how it has changed over the years.
