  • A light dinner in a rustic cafe in the countryside village of Deres is included as standard

  • Your guide is an expert local who knows the areas you'll visit and their communities well
Beschreibung

There are plenty of ways to enjoy a Cretan sunset, but nothing quite beats a 4x4 safari into the White Mountains as day turns to night. You'll rumble down unchartered tracks to places few visitors go – stopping for plenty of photos along the way – and toast in the evening during dinner at a countryside restaurant.

With only six to eight guests per 4x4, this semi-private tour allows you to drink in hard-to-reach mountain views while enjoying the peace and quiet. You'll set off from Chania towards the White Mountains, taking routes and tracks that only a 4x4 can handle to find panoramic spots that are well off the radar.

You'll trundle through typical villages, too, and stop at Valsamiotis Dam to savour the sunset. Afterwards, you'll head to the village of Deres for a light dinner at one of the local restaurants. Then, you'll hop back into your 4x4 for the return journey to your accommodation.

When booking this trip me and my partner was all up for it, the more we got closer to the Sunset safari 4x4 tour we were kind of putting it off as we were worried we wouldn't see the sunset etc. we still went on the trip and front getting picked up outside our hotel, the trip, the guide, views and the food was amazing and we were so happy we went on it. The tour guild gave us so much experience and history of the Island, we would love to go again and would recommend people do it.

A nice tour but the experience wasnt exciting. Good company. We wasnt impressed with the taverna as it was very mundane and flat. There needed o be greek music and even fairy lights to creste an atmosphere. Personally not good value for money However guide was personable and knowledable

Deze was een 2 uur korter dan gepland. Werd hard gereden op wegen waar je geen overzicht had, bijna aanrijding hierdoor. Zonsondergang was mooi. Maar heb van de omgeving weinig gezien. Werd ook niet door de chauffeur geregeld dat er werd geruild met gene die in het achterste gedeelte van jeep zat

Its a lovely trip and our guide was great. However pick ups at the various hotels needs to be earlier as by September the sun is setting earlier and it was a real rush for our guide to be able to get us to the point to see the sunset in time. This made the trip feel very rushed and prevented us from having quality time viewing the points of interest during the drive up the mountains which was a shame.

Full-day Crete wine-tasting and 4x4 off-road tour

This full-day guided tour is all about getting to grips with a few of Crete's most popular local products, olive oil and wine. You'll learn how both are made, and you'll get to sample some for yourself, all while travelling between stops in the back of a 4x4. Ioannis, one of our expert local guides says “in my opinion, there's no better way to understand the culture of a destination than by meeting the people who make local produce. They know the area better than anyone, and the produce is a reflection of the culture.”You'll kick things off at the Terra Creta Olive Mill. Here, you'll see how olives are turned into oil before a tasting session. Then, you'll be welcomed into a boutique winery for a tour of the grounds and, of course, to sample the wines produced here. You'll learn about the different grape varieties, including some experimental wines made from rare grapes. Next, you'll continue to the village of Ano Vouves, home to an ancient olive tree – it's thought to be between 2,000 and 4,000 years old, but it still produces olives to this day.Afterwards, you'll set off on an off-road adventure in a 4x4 towards the mountain village of Sebronas. As you zoom through the gorge, you'll see pretty chapels, vineyards and olive groves – and you'll have time to snap a few photos along the way. Then, once you've worked up your appetite, you'll stop for lunch at a small village tavern, where you'll tuck into some traditional dishes.
